Options for Carrying Trailer Spare Tire at Trailer Bumper and Higher Off Ground
Products Featured in This Question
Question:
These two seem to be the only manufacturers of the RV 4inch bumper spare tire carrier. The problem I have is that my tire size is 225/75-15 and the tire hangs below the bottom of my bumper when mounted on the carrier. We do a lot of boondocking into many probably questionable spots for an RV of my size and Ive completely ruined a couple spare tire mounts. Im tired of replacing them, but I dont want to put the spare tire in the back of my truck. Ive looked at RV underbody mount, but the underbelly stuff on my trailer prevents me from useing that kind, so I need to stay with the rear bumper mount. Does anyone make the same thing, just a little taller by about 4-6. In other words, from the bottom to the top overall height, it measures 18-1/4. Is there anyone that makes one with an overall height of 22-1/4-24-1/4inch or greater so that the tire doesnt hang below and get ripped off everytime I get into these spots?

I have a solution that may work for you, but unfortunately we do not have any bumper mount spare tire carriers that are taller than 18-1/8 inches tall.
The solution I have for you to carry your spare tire on the rear of your camper and higher off the ground is to use a bumper mounted hitch receiver, such as # UF35-946402 that sits on top of your camper's bumper, and the Curt Trailer Hitch Mounted Spare Tire Carrier # C31006. This spare tire carrier will install in the hitch receiver and will sit 24 inches above the top of your bumper. The carrier features a couple of hitch pin hole options to allow you to adjust how close the carrier sits to the back of the trailer and is considered a universal carrier to work with your 225/75-15 size spare tire.
Review videos of the hitch receiver and the spare tire carrier are linked to this page for you.
