Can Installing Towing Package Components Increase Towing Capacity on a 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe LT?
Question:
I need to know if the towing package components can be added to my 2015 Chevy Tahoe LT to increase the towing capacity? Is it prohibitive?

Adding towing package components will help you maximize the towing capacity of your Tahoe LT, but it will not increase it. If you own the vehicle, it is up to you what modifications are made. The only way I can see it being prohibitive would be if it were to void a warranty of some type.
I was able to find a towing capacity chart in your owner's manual for you to identify which vehicle you have. I have linked the chart to this page for you.
If you decide you would like to continue to outfit your vehicle with the towing package to maximize the towing capacity then I would recommend the following:
If you don't have a factory 4-way you will need a lighting kit for trailer lights # C59496. If your trailer will have brakes you will need a 7-way to adapt the 4-way to a 7-way you will want # ETBC7.
If your trailer has electric brakes you will need a brake controller like the P3 # 90195. I recommend the Tekonsha P3 # 90195, because of its easy user interface. The P3 is a proportional brake controller which means it senses how the tow vehicle is slowing or stopping and applies the trailer's brakes with the same intensity. It also has a full display screen instead of codes that need deciphering. The Tekonsha P2 # 90885 is like the P3's little brother, it has all the great qualities but doesn't have the display of the P3.
To determine the right ball and ball mount you will need, it will depend on the trailer you have and what the coupler height and size is. We have a standard ball mount kit that includes the most popular sizes needed # 989900. I have linked a Help Article about this for you to check out.
Depending on the weight of your trailer you may want a weight distribution system. I have linked another Help Article for you to check out.
A transmission cooler would definitely be a good idea, especially if you are wanting to maximize your towing ability. Transmission coolers are not custom fit so you will want to inspect the area of your engine for proper amount of space for a cooler like the # D13502 which measures 11 inches wide x 7-1/4 inches tall x 7/8 inches deep.
If you can tell me more information about your truck and trailer setup, I would be happy to better recommend products to help you maximize your towing ability.
