Smallest Tire Available with Capacity Greater Than 1600 lbs for Pontoon Boat Trailer
Products Featured in This Question
Question:
I am totally confused about tire size and load ratings of B,C etc. In one response I saw the Laod B was about 1450 lbs and C was about 1750 lb - BUT when I look through the tire ions I see the tires rated B or C vary all over the place as to load capacity - Whats up with that? Specifically I am looking for the smallest TOTAL diameter tire the will carry a load of 3200 lbs on two tires/1 axle - I have a pontoon trailer that I need to lower its height by several inches Thanks for your time

If you compare two tires of the same manufacturer and tire size, load range B tires should all have the same capacity, same for load range C or D.
A 205/65-10 tire like part # AM1HP56 has a 1650 lb capacity at 90 psi. Two tires would give you a 3300 lb capacity. Wheel/tire combos are also available. For a 4 on 4 bolt pattern, use part # AM3H470 or for a 5 on 4-1/2 bolt pattern, use part # AM3H490.
To get a higher capacity than that, you'd need to go with a larger tire like a 215/75-14, like part # AM1ST86 for a bias ply or # AM10234 for a radial tire. Both are available as a wheel/tire combo on a 5 on 4-1/2 inch bolt pattern wheel like # AM3S450 for bias ply or # AM32156 for a radial. The bias ply has a 1760 lb capacity at 50 psi and the radial has a 1925 lb capacity at 60 psi. These tires are probably larger in diameter than what you had in mind.
