Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

The quality of the hitch looks to be good. Seems to be heavy duty though I have yet to install and try things out. Just felt I’d leave my quick review regarding purchasing from etrailer along with their customer service and as you can see it’s two stars. Box arrived mangled and torn. Hitch inside was chipped at various points. Contacted etrailer and they offered either $15 credit or touch up paint. Would have been better if they gave you both considering but instead they only give you the choice of one or the other. With that being said etrailer and my contact person Samantha B get the two stars.

by:

Great product. Easy installation and great fit. 45 minutes install time. Fast shipping and great service as always from etrailer!

by:
2001 Toyota Tacoma

Once again the hitch was delivered With the ends popping out of it
Scratched and paint off the ends. Holes in the box and a bolt missing from said hole.
The safety chain weld/ bracket does not look up to bumper par.
With this particular vehicle, requires bumper removal… more complicated than other brands if I recall.

etrailer response and shipping is great as usual, Purchased a few products in the past from them.

I will have Customer Service reach out to you. Also, we recommend using a Rust-Oleum type paint to cover the scratches to prevent rust.

by:

It started out as a nice product unfortunately due to the fact that it is not packaged properly it got severely beat up in shipping all the powder coating flaked off in several spots which is going to cause Rust down the road. There was no Styrofoam no protected cardboard on the edges of the tow hitch basically thrown in a box and sent on its way hoping for the the best. It Too bad because it’s a nice product the website was easy to navigate and other than that I was very very happy.

Thank you for leaving a review! Here is a link to an article with different ideas on how you can prevent rust formation.

by:

As much as I would like to give a great review, when I received my product, the packaging was so minimal that the delivery process had chipped away much of the powder coating, therefore diminishing the effective rust barrier exalted in the description. If you order a trailer hitch. Request special care in the packaging process to lessen the damage!

by:

You need to find this from a different source. You’re not buying a new product here. You are buying a damaged new product. You must touch up all the damage from the delivery because etrailer is not in the business of packing packages properly. They could not care less once they have your money. This company won’t be around forever. Buyer beware.

by:
2001 Toyota Tacoma

Exactly as described. Delivered on time and the box was pretty much destroyed. For an attachment that pulls trailers and mounts under the truck, it's almost indestructible anyway. No complaints. Fits the chassis like a glove.

Fit
like a champ. super sturdy . Will order from e trailer in the future. Thank you George j and all the great peeps over there!!!!!! Big idaho thank you.

Install was a pretty straight forward. Without pneumatics you'll want a 2' break-over bar for this job and I'd PB Blaster the existing hardware the night before for easier removal. There are bolts in the holes for the forward-most mounts. The instructions show an empty hole. I wouldn't recommend even attempting to remove these with a standard 14mm socket & ratchet. Having tried and nearly rounding the heads I bought an Irwin Bolt Grip set ($33 at NAPA, be sure to get the one with the 14mm size) and they came out with considerable effort on the end of my 2' bar. Be sure to keep the socket square on the head and be patient. Once the unnecessary hardware was removed and the flanges installed at the back I put the hitch in place with all hardware loose to ensure clean threading of the forward bolts into the captured nut in the frame. Square things up to the bumper and tighten all the hardware (2 each: bumper mount nuts/bolts holding the flange, forward bolts into captured nut in frame, rear machine bolts/nuts mounting hitch to frame through the flanges). Three hours including the trip to NAPA, should have taken about half that time. Good luck!

My hitch is working just like the day I installed it. I use it once a month for work and am glad to have it when I need it. It was a good deal, a good product and relatively easy install. Would absolutely recommend.

My order, class II trailer hitch and wire harness, was on time and delivered with no missing parts. George sent me an email letting me know that the order shipped and then followed up to insure it was correct once received, I highly recommend George and his Company. They are honest and dependable people, which is a hard quality to find these days. Quality of the hitch was outstanding and the wiring harness went in without a hitch, sorta speak.

Thanks Etrailer, I will tell everyone I know about you.

Your product has done a Great job. no problems with it and have used it many times. I as well would like to thank you for the follow up email. in today’s busy world it is not every one that takes the time to do this. If more companies would go back to the idea of Great Customer Service, as you have, it would most certainly be a much better world to live in.

Super fast shipping, item as described, fits well, I know it is hard to package an item like this but the exposed parts are paint damaged, perhaps wrapping protective paper or plastic on the exposed parts would prevent a lot of touch up or rust on a new item.

by:

Well, I have to tell you potential customers.....my experience
in speaking w/George I found was very helpful in my initial purhase.
Aftering qualifying my application, I discovered the installation went
pretty smooth, couple of tug n pulls here an there, this reciever fit
exactly as intended. The electrical connection went smooth, and I
found after multiple towing efforts, this receiver hitch is very stable
and did the job!!. I would absolutely buy again from etrailer with confidence...

2001 Toyota Tacoma

The hitch was here very fast, and it went on the truck perfectly, all the holes were right on . I thought it was very easy to install but I think you need to drop the spare tire. On a 2001 Toyota Tacoma Prerunner you need a key that hooks on to the jack handel and than the tire drops very easy. I would tell everyone to buy your products, the hitch I bought for my 2001 Toyota Solar was just as good and I put it on with ease, so thanks again BW

1996 Toyota Tacoma

Fits my 1996 Toyota Tacoma great. Mounted perfectly. No problems. Very satisfied with it.

by:

The hitch has worked just fine. It did show up damaged. They need to do a better job of packaging it. I had to repaint it and one flange was tweaked a little. It made installing it more timely and difficult than it needed to be. If it wasn't damaged, I'm sure it would have went much smoother.

by:

Does everything great, as advertised … easy to install, not for one person, needed another pair of hands…

by:

Came as indicated but was shipped in a cardboard box. When it arrived, the cardboard box was badly damaged and the hitch receiver was hanging outside of the box with paint knocked off in several locations. It's a solid hitch though, so no problem with the construction, but shipping could be much better.

2004 Toyota Tacoma

Very pleased with this hitch. It is well built and sturdy. I recommend having someone help you install it. It almost wooped me doing it by myself in the Florida heat. Let me say that the install would have been a whole lot smoother if I would have just read the diagram correctly in the manual. Just remember that the horizontal flaps on the hitch bolt to the bottom side of your C-channel frame, not on the inside! Also I ended up having to mount my ground wire for my pigtail onto the actual hitch metal and grind the new paint off for a good ground connection before my trailer lights would work.

by:

Excellent customer service and product shipped fast. Couldn’t be happier!

by:

The hitch came delivered on time, but the box was badly damaged. The hitch was hanging outside the box with the paint chipped. Needs to be packed better and the shipping company needs to take better care of there deliverys. Hopping the hitch is not damaged when I go to mount it.

2004 Toyota Tacoma

The hitch was installed on a 2004 Toyota Tacoma and the installation went very well. I've done a few of these installations over the years and they usually result in boring larger holes due to misalignment. Not so in this case. Everything went fine and it could have been easier, but my creeper wheels kept hanging up on the stress grooves in the driveway. I'm in my 70's and managed to get it installed by myself. Looks great and all the hardware was included and the instructions were easily understandable. Would recommend to anyone. Little hint to one-person installers: use a floor jack under the center of the hitch until the first bolts are in place. It's a little to large to support and deal with alignment. Have fun.

by:

I am very pleased with the product and service provided by etrailer. Not only was it shipped and delivered when they said it was going to be, but the hitch was very easy to install (once all the rusted hardware was out.) I had no issue with the mounting the front brackets. A simple soak in solvent was all it needed. The rear set of 14mm bolts into the frame posed a much greater challenge. My biggest suggestion to anyone doing this on their own is to use heat, alot of it. Personally, a regular acetylene torch worked just fine. I put a small head on it (brazing tip) and was able to heat the top of the bolt where it threaded. Once cherry red the bolt came out fine. Once all the rusted hardware was out, it took less than 10 minutes to have the job completely done. I towed a 1000 lb trailer an hour later and it did it's job. Thanks etrailer!
