Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

Great experience and customer service. I had ordered a trailer hitch from another distributer, a mamoth companty-you know who-and I got a hitch for a Hyundai but I have a Dodge! Yuck. Etrailer sent me the right one and it bolted on in minutes. THANKS.

One year in and still happy with it. It has not fallen off yet, just joking. Soild hitch, solid company to purchase from.

by:

Disappointed. I am towing a 16' enclosed trailer with maximum 2000# load (2 pool tables) The side plate, just below the frame attachment, is buckling.

If you can, send us a picture of your hitch and trailer so we can work with Draw-Tite to troubleshoot your issues.

by:

After a year and traveling thousands of miles everything is still perfect. It was a breeze to install and has held up beautifully. I will get another if I need one for another vehicle.

It's installed on our camper conversion van and either is towing a box trailer or has a hitch rack or bike rack hooked up at all times. It's never without load.

Hitch fits, right model, looks good. But four of the goldish washers were the wrong size. So four fit and the others were too small.
struggled with not being able to get them on the bolts and figured out they were too small. I worked manufacturing and most likely in Mexico they ran out and substitudded the smaller ones to ship it!

1999 DodgeVan

This Draw-Tite replaced a Curt hitch that tore at the mounting plate. The Draw-Tite has beefier mounting brackets with almost double the surface area of the Curt and included much heavier rear brackets that attach directly to the tube rather than a separate flange. Did not have to cut anything on my 1999 Dodge 3500 Van even though the instructions said this would be necessary. A little disappointed it just includes zinc plated Grade 5 hardware, I upgraded to corrosion resistant Grade 8 nuts & bolts. Solid hitch, should consider it as a first choice even though it’s a little more expensive. Only hitch with a 10K pound/1,000 lb tongue weight weight distributing rating.

by:

Awesome Hitch. Easy to install and a great addition to the camper van. Would recommend to anyone who is looking for an affordable trailer hitch that is versatile and looks great. Thank you etrailer!

by:

Easy to put on looks good nice quality definitely happy with it

by:
1996 DodgeVan

The trailer hitch I ordered arrived ahead of schedule and was in good condition. It took my son and me about 2.5 hours to install it due to having to cut some sheet metal away (which the enclosed directions clearly indicated would need to be done) so we got it installed fine.

We haven't used it yet but I'm not anticipating any problems.

2001 Dodge Ram Pickup

Perfect fit on my Dodge Ram 3500 Van. Incredibly easy to install and I did the install myself with no help. All install hardware was included. Quality of the hitch receiver is great. I really love the "hidden hitch" aspect as it is 100% shin saver. Shipping was quick via UPS. Killer product from a great company. Thank you etrailer.

by:

Great product took a very short time to put on the only problem was was in delivery and that was UPS's fault it should have been here on Friday and it came on Monday because the UPS driver was too lazy to deliver it it was a piece of cake to put on and I thank you so much for trying to get it here on Friday I would purchase again from you and I would recommend you to anybody that needed a hitch thank you so much

by:

Absolutely perfect, I had it installed using only hand tools in under an hour. No complaints whatsoever, when I replace this vehicle I will be buying a new hitch from them for the new one.

by:

A great trailer hitch! Well made, well painted.... appears to be durable and best of all I could install it myself. All parts lined up perfectly and nuts, washers and bolts installed without a problem! SO HAPPY I BOUGHT THIS FROM etrailer! Thanks!

by:

Exactly what I wanted. Mounting brackets on hitch at the right position. Was easy install on my van.

by:

The hitch itself seems very good. Very fast delivery as well. Left off one star because I only received half of the instruction page. Installed it and didn’t know there were additional brackets that bolt on to the bumper mount. I happened to find the full instructions on the product page while I was searching for torque specs.

by:

Great quality. Instructions were a little off but it was easy to figure out. Installation was another story... Fast shipping. The box with all the bolts in it could have been taped up better as they were all rolling around in the shipping box with the hitch.

by:

Straight out the box easy installation, no set backs, exactly as described! Definitely recommend using etrailer and this hitch!

by:

by:

Nice hitch easy and nstall

by:

I received the hitch in just a few days. The packaging was well put together with all parts secure. The hitch is well made and it fit the van frame with no pushing, pulling, squeezing or forcing. This is the second vehicle I have put one on. Very satisfied with both.

  • Recommended Hitch for 1998 Dodge Ram B1500 Van with Factory Standard Bumper
For a 1998 Dodge B1500 van with a standard factory bumper (and no weld nuts in the frame) the hitch I recommend is the USA-made Curt # 13015. I suggest this hitch because it has a higher weight rating than the Draw-Tite # 75140, 6000-lbs trailer weight rather than 5000-lbs, which gives you a useful safety margin. It includes all required hardware and an installation video is linked for you too. If you also need a 4-pole harness you can use Curt Powered Tail Light Converter with 4-Pole...

  • Why Doesn't Curt Hitch 13590 Have Same Cut Out Bracket as Draw Tite 75140
The reason the Curt # 13590 does not have the same cut out as the # 75140 is because instead of a cut out or recessed section it is missing that part of the bracket altogether. The Draw Tite uses fewer mounting holes so yes I would say it would be easier to install.

  • Hitch Availability for 1999 Dodge 1500 Conversion Van
Several hitches, both Class III and Class IV types, are offered for the different versions of the 1999 full-size Dodge van. The key factor in selecting the right one is the type of bumper on the van, either a standard bumper or a step bumper. The presence of the spare tire is not noted by the manufacturers as affecting the fit; only the bumper type matters. Please see the linked article on bumper types. Versions of the van with existing weld nuts on the frame are not compatible with certain...

I have another option for you, but the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver # 75101 you were looking at is only confirmed to fit select Dodge Ram Pickup trucks and will not fit your 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 Van. Instead I recommend the Draw-Tite # 75140 which is confirmed to fit your Ram 1500 Van and has the same 500lb tongue weight rating and 5000lb trailer weight rating as the # 75101. This hitch would be perfect for carrying a bike rack, cargo carrier, or ball mount for towing a trailer. If...

  • Trailer Hitch Receiver Recommendation For 2001 Dodge 2500 Van
The Draw-Tite Class III Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # 75140 is the one I recommend for your 2001 Dodge 2500 Van. It is designed to fit both the step bumper and standard bumpers that came from the factory on your Van. The receiver is rated for 500lbs of tongue weight and 5,000lbs towing with a standard trailer hitch and with weight distribution hitches capacity doubles to 1,000lbs of tongue weight and 10,000lbs of trailer weight. For your friend's 2003 Dodge 1500 Conversion Van, the Draw-Tite Max-Frame # 75140 is a great option that will fit well. The plastic components on those conversion vans are mostly on the front, sides, and wheel wells. It really doesn't utilize anything other than the standard rear bumper which this hitch will fit very well. If you will be towing with this hitch, I recommend the Tekonsha 4-Pole Hardwire Kit with Circuit Tester # 18252 which also includes the quick splice connections. Finally,...

  • Rear Hitch for 1996 Pleasureway Motorhome on Dodge Van 3500 Chassis
We do offer hitches for the 1996 Dodge Van, but they are meant to be used with the van, not with a motorhome on a van chassis. When a motorhome is added to the chassis, the spatial relationship between the frame members and the rear bumper always changes, meaning that a hitch designed for the van won't work. I'd recommend using a motorhome hitch, see the provided link. One of the adjustable width hitches would work best. In order to find the hitch that would work best, measure the outside...

  • Best Way to Carry Bikes on 1994 Dodge 350 Camper Van
I have a solution for you, but unfortunately we do not have a front mounted hitch for the 1994 Dodge Camper Van. Since carrying bikes on the front of a vehicle can impede your head lights and turn signals, as well as potentially add unneeded stress to your vehicle by restricting airflow to your engine, I would recommend another method altogether if possible. This is designed to work with vans that have a standard bumper. There is no drilling required when installing the hitch. It uses existing holes in the vehicle frame. • Trailer Hitch and Swinging Bike Rack for Great West Conversion Van on 2003 Dodge Ram Van Chassis
To be able to use a bike rack and be able to open the rear spare and hatch doors (which look like they open towards the left side of the vehicle) I recommend installing a trailer hitch and using a swing away bike rack. Your 2004 Great West was built on the 2003 Dodge Ram Van chassis so for a trailer hitch I recommend # 75140. This is a Class III hitch with a 2 inch receiver. • Fit of Draw-Tite Class Ill 75140 on 1987 Dodge Van Without Step Bumper
According to my contact at Draw-Tite, as long as the bumper you describe is an OEM bumper that is not a step bumper, the # 75140 hitch would be a fit. As we have not had the opportunity to install this hitch on a 1987 Dodge Van, I cannot say with certainty how much clearance you will have behind the bumper.
