Review of Go Power! RV Solar Panels 34275012

Speaker 1: Today we're going to take a look at the Go Power! 500 Watt Flexible Solar Kit with the Digital Controller. Now this kit uses these flexible solar panels that have the MC4 Connectors on them. They can conform to almost any surface. They're perfect for RVs and boats. They're very lightweight, low profile design. They're ideal for lightweight RVs.

And they're only about an eighth inch thick, so it allows bending up to 30 degrees. The solar panel construction, it's a laminate TPT backsheet with stainless steel grommets on the ends to install it. The solar panels, they do use monocrystalline cells, which produce more power per square foot than any other panel on the market and they're very easy to install. You can affix them by adhesive or by screws and it does come with the mounting hardware. Now this kit will include everything laid out here. Comes with the 500 watt solar panels with the mounting hardware. It comes with the MPPT Solar Controller with cables.

Comes with the MPPT Digital Remote Display with cables, a cable entry plate with 25 feet of red and 25 feet of black cable. Comes with the battery cables right here. Also has five, three foot long MC4 Output Extension Cables to connect your solar panels. Has a 80 amp Circuit Breaker. Right here is the Solar Disconnect Box.

All the mounting hardware to install it and a nice detailed user's manual that will describe how to install everything and how it operates. Now, going back to the solar panel here. These solar panels, their wattage is 100 watts per panel. Maximum power voltage is 17.6 volts. Maximum power current is 5.68 amps. Open circuit voltage is 20.8 amps, short circuit current is 6.14 amps.

Maximum tolerance is plus or minus five percent. The Series Fuse Rating is 10 amps. Maximum system voltage, 600 volts DC. The weight on one of these is just under three pounds, about 2.9 pounds and the length on them, if I hold this up, is going to be 44 and five-eighths inches long. The width on the panel is 21 and seven-sixteenths inches wide. And, as I mentioned earlier, they're only about an eighth of an inch deep. Now the solar controller, that's this part right here. This solar controller is a MPPT and that stands for Maximum Power Point Tracking Controller. Maintains the life of the battery by preventing overcharging. A controller will regulate your current flow from your solar panels to your batteries. Also charges 12-volt and 24-volt batteries with higher voltage rate. Does use three battery charging profiles, sealed, AGM, and flooded. And on the remote for it, right here, uses a backlit LCD screen to display charging current, battery voltage and battery state of charge. They do use heavy-duty terminals here to provide low resistance connections and they can be stacked with another controller for twice the array capacity.System voltage on this is 12 volts, 24 volts. Maximum charge current is 40 amps. Battery voltage range is for a 12-volt system, nine volts to fifteen and a half volts. For a 24-volt system, 18 to 31 volts. Maximum solar panel input voltage is 150 volts. Over voltage protection is 15 and a half volts, 31 volts. And the maximum photovoltaic power input at 12 volts is 600 watts, at 24 volts is 1200 watts. So, overall wattage on this kit is 500 watts. Overall power current is 28.4 amps. But that should do it for the review on the Go Power! 500 Watt Flexible Solar Kit With the Digital Controller.
