Zinc-plated, corrosion resistant steel D-ring creates an attachment point for tie-down straps and bungee cords wherever you need cargo control. The recessed design allows you to roll cargo over the ring. Includes backing plate and mounting hardware.

Features:

  • Tie-down anchor provides a solid point to secure your cargo with straps or bungee cords
  • D-ring 90-degrees so you can attach straps from multiple angles
  • Recessed design allows cargo to slide over the ring without interference
  • Included backing plate provides greater support than mounting the anchor directly to wood
  • Zinc-plated steel construction resists corrosion and retains its strength through repeated use
  • Simple, bolt-on installation with mounting hardware
    • Includes 4 Nuts, 4 lock washers, and (4) 3/8" x 2-1/4" bolts

Specs:

  • Maximum load (break strength): 5,000 lbs
  • Working load limit: 1,600 lbs
  • Anchor:
    • Bezel dimensions: 4-1/2" wide x 4-7/8" tall
    • Ring diameter: 1/2"
    • Inner ring diameter: 1-3/8"
    • Recess dimensions: 3-3/8" wide x 3/4" deep
    • Bolt hole dimensions: 3/8" wide x 3/8" tall
    • Bolt size: 3/8" diameter x 2-1/4" long
  • Backing plate dimensions: 6-1/2" wide x 6-1/2" tall
  • 1-Year limited warranty

Note: Tie-down anchors must be chosen according to their safe working load limit (WLL). The weight of the secured cargo must not exceed the combined WLL of the anchors being used. For example, if you are using anchors with a WLL of 100 lbs each to tie down a load weighing 400 lbs, then you need at least 4 anchors to safely secure that load. It is recommended that you always use anchors in pairs.

  • Tie-Down Recommendation for Bulldog Winch Ratcheting Wheel Tie-Down Strap
The Bulldog Winch Ratcheting Wheel Tie-Down Strap # BDW20362 is designed to connect to a D-Ring type of connection point so you wouldn't need to install an e-track on your trailer. For your application I recommend installing the Brophy D-Ring Tie Down Anchor w Backing Plate # RR5K for your anchor points since you want them to be directly in-line with your tires and not offset like your current tie-down anchors. The Brophy kit mentioned above comes with a backing plate and installation...

  • Does the Orientation of the Backing Plate Matter on the Brophy Tie Down Part # RR5K
The orientation of the backing plate on the Brophy D-Ring Tie Down Anchor w Backing Plate part # RR5K does not matter. I called my contact at C.R. Brophy Machine Works to confirm this as well. The reason one side is longer is because different situations will require different clearances. Whichever way gives you the most clearance will be the way you will want to install it. I have attached a sample install video on this tie down for you as well.

Hey Pete, yes the Brophy D-Ring Tie Down Anchor w Backing Plate # RR5K can be installed on a steel deck trailer. I found a picture we got from a customer that installed it on a diamond plate steel floor for you to check out as well.

  • Will Backing Plate of Brophy D-Ring Tie Down Anchor # RR5K Prevent Anchor From Ripping Out
Depends on the condition of the wood but the backing plate of the Brophy D-Ring Tie Down Anchor w Backing Plate # RR5K that you referenced is designed to distribute the weight so that it does not easily rip through the wood. I attached a picture of what the backing plate looks like installed. If the floor is strong enough for the weight of your snowmobile it's going to be strong enough for the backing plate to be effective.

  • Can the Recessed Trailer D-Ring Tie Down with Backing Plate be Used on an Aluminum Trailer Floor
The backing plate that comes with the tie down, # RR5K, is strong enough for its 5,000 pound capacity so no additional support is needed for it. I recommend placing the tie downs so that the are over the frame of the trailer where the most support is. If they are bolted to the frame, that would be the strongest point.

  • What Grade Bolts Come with Recessed Trailer D-Ring Tie Down, # RR5K
The bolts included with the Recessed Trailer D-Ring Tie Down, # RR5K, are marked 307A. This indicates they are Grade A hardware as determined by the ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials). I have included a link to a video showing a typical installation for you.

  • Choosing D-Ring Cargo Tie Downs for Toy Hauler Trailer
We offer D-ring tie down products with working load limit (WLL) ratings from 330-lbs, as with the Brophy # SR10-C, up to more than 15,500-lbs, as with the weld-on Curt D-ring # C83780. The Brophy D-ring # RR01-C you referenced has a WLL of 400-lbs, half of what you need to match your other D-ring, if it is indeed rated for 2500-lbs breaking strength. Note that such parts carry two types of ratings, a breaking strength and a working load limit (WLL). Straps and anchors must be selected...

  • Installing D-Ring Surface Mount Tie-Down Anchors on a Aluminum Snowmobile Trailer
The Brophy D-Ring Tie Down Anchor - Bolt-On - 3-1/2" Wide - Surface Mount - 1,600 lbs # SR15-C are steel anchors with a zinc finish. Although the zinc finish will help avoid galvanic corrosion from dissimilar metals, the connection by drilling into the aluminum frame is not the best option. It is true the frame will typically be a stronger connection point than the wood deck, but in this case the wood is a better option when secured close to the frame yet not touching it. A good option...

  • Tie-Downs to Secure UTV to Aluminum Trailer
Since you have an aluminum trailer I suggest using a tie-down that has a backing plate like # RR5K. This will help reinforce the tie-down since aluminum may not hold up. It would be even better if you can install the tie-downs to the frame of the trailer. This tie-down has a 5,000 pound capacity so that won't be an issue for your UTV. To avoid any oxidation or reaction between the aluminum and steel you should use some sort of gasket material. Pretty much anything that can be cut to...

  • How To Install The Brophy Trailer D-Ring Tie Down, # RR5K, On A Wood Trailer Floor
You can attach the Brophy Recessed Trailer D-Ring Tie Down with Backing Plate, # RR5K, most anywhere on a trailer. The recessed D-Ring is designed to be recessed in a wood surface (floor, wall) and using the steel backing plate will make a stronger tie down point. To be able to recess the tie down ring in the wood you will have to drill a 3-1/4 inch hole in the wood and then, using the backing plate as a template, drill the 4 holes for the mounting bolts. Then, with the steel backing...

  • Are Brophy Trailer D-Ring Tie Downs # RR05 Suitable for Use on a Car Trailer
According to my contact at Brophy, their # RR05 Trailer D-Ring Tie Down has a working load limit of 1600-lbs and a break strength of 5,000-lbs. (Working Load Limit or WLL is the maximum burden that should be put on the device in daily use.) This makes this sturdy 2-1/2-lb tie down perfect for use on a car hauler trailer. In a typical trailer configuration with four or more of these tie downs being used at the same time you will have at least 20,000-lbs of capacity for securing the loaded...

  • Does it Matter Which Way the Backing Plate Faces in Trailer D-Ring Tie Down, # RR5K
The backing plate can be placed as needed as long as it can be installed properly. As long as the strap is secure, it will not make much difference which way the hole is oriented. I recommend having it placed in such a way as to be further from the tire which would allow for a little more flexibility of what size item you could place in the space between them.

  • Does a Recessed D-Ring have to be Positioned Any Certain Way in a Trailer
No, you can mount a recessed D-ring in any orientation you need and it will perform the same and have the same rating. I recommend # RR5K because it comes with a backing plate and hardware. It is rated for 5,000 pounds limited to the capacity of the surface it is attached to. I have linked a video showing an example installation for you.

  • Installing Brophy D-Rings on OSB Trailer Flooring
When used along with a steel backing plate, the Brophy D-Ring Tie Down Anchor # LRB1 that you referenced should offer enough support to provide a safe anchor point on the wooden T-Grade OSB flooring on your trailer. Then, you will mark where the holes for the 4 bolts are to be located and drill 4 holes for the bolts. • Best Tie-Down Recommendation for a Pine Wood Floor Flatbed Trailer Carrying Motorcycles
I think installing the Recessed Trailer D-Ring, # RR5K, that you have referenced, would be better than # LRB1, because the backing plate is going to help distribute the load from the ring which would be better for your wood decking and make for stronger connection points.
