Should Trailer Hub Seals Leak After Filling them with Accu-Lube System
Published 12/02/2014 >
Question:
I have a 3500lb Quality Products axle with the accu-lube system. It requires inner bearing #L-68149 and race L-68111. Outer bearing # L-44649 and race #L-44610. Seal requires a #171255TB. I replaced the seal with your RG06-050 part. Problem is when I lubed the system thru the grease fitting, the seal leaked. I wiped off the excess and after driving 200 miles, some amount of grease leaked out of the seal again. Is some leakage normal with an axle equipped with the accu-lube system or do I have a bigger problem?

It sounds like you may be pumping too much grease into your hubs and that is causing the seal to fail and leak grease out of the hub. You may have blown the seal already, but if not I would recommend trying a smaller amount of grease in the hub and see if that stops the leak.
For a new seal you would want the # RG06-050 that you referenced.
We see this problem a lot with the Bearing Buddies. People end up putting too much grease in their hubs and it blows out the seal.
