Cost Effective Solution for Fixing Trailer Wiring Harness on a 2006 Dodge Ram 1500
Published 09/25/2014 >
Question:
Dodge 1500 Ram 2006 with 7 blade factory installed tow package Im not an electronics geniusfoot but my read of the printed Instructions for the Modulite seem to assume that the existing trailer output wiring for tow vehicle is a 4 pole plug, and that it is mating to a 4 pole trailer connector. Any special instructions for installing Modulite to this factory tow package uses a 7 flat blade connector and trailers do too, of course IF: 1 I dont want to spend the money to replace the TIMP module $900+ or have it reflashed to fix loss of left turn signal at trucks tow plug trucks L turn signal works fine or 2 I go ahead and get the TIMP replaced or reflashed so truck tow plug itself is fully functioning again? Thanks, you guys are great!

What I would do in your situation is install the # C59496 and not mess with paying a ridiculous amount of money to have your TIPM replaced or reflashed. This harness will bypass all that nonsense and will give you a 4-way harness.
If you are looking to use a 7-way trailer harness what you could do is cut the 4-way off of the # C59496, and then cut the harness of your factory 7-way and wire up the wires of the 4-way to the correct pin locations on your 7-way. For a wiring diagram check out the picture I attached.
