Can Bigger Wheels And Tires Be Used On Camper
Published 09/25/2014 >
Question:
I have an older pop up camper with 4.80x12inch wheels. I would like to put a bigger tire/wheel on it for more ground clearance. What are my options and cost? Thank you,

In order to be able to place bigger wheels and tires on your camper, the first thing needed is the bolt pattern you have on the existing wheels you wish to replace.
The tire/wheel combos we offer for that tire size either have a 4 on 4 or 5 on 4-1/2 inch wheel bolt pattern. The 13 inch combos we offer have multiple wheel bolt patterns, so getting that measurement is most important. If you are looking for 14 inch tire/wheel combos, the bolt pattern we offer is 5 on 4-1/2.
I have attached a helpful article that explains how to measure the bolt pattern on your wheels. I have also attached a helpful article that shows the sizes of the tires. In the overall diameter column you can use the dimension listed to see if you have the clearance or room for your camper.
You will also want to check your owners manual or with the camper manufacturer to see if a different size tire/wheel can be used.
Once you determine the bolt pattern on your wheel, if you want to let me know what that is I will be glad to make some recommendations that will possibly work for you.
