I wanted to find out if your receiver hitch for the Volvo XC90 ‘08 is made with square tubing or round. Also is there any cutting of the bumper needed or is it straight bolt-on ....

All the hitches we offer for your 2008 Volvo XC90 use square tube construction. No drilling, trimming or vehicle modification will be required, the hitch bolts to existing holes in the vehicle. The nice thing about the design of the hitch is that the cross tube is concealed behind the bumper, so the receiver tube is the only visible portion of the hitch.
The two hitches available are pretty similar, visually speaking but the Draw-Tite # 75152 has a higher tongue weight capacity (maximum amount of weight that can safely be suspended from the hitch.) For that reason, I'd recommend going with the Draw-Tite over the Curt offering.
If you'll be using the hitch for towing, you'll need a few other products to complete your towing system:
Trailer wiring harness with 4 pin trailer connector # 118411
Ball mount # C45010
2 inch trailer ball # 63845
1-7/8 inch trailer ball # 19260
