Question:
Does the "7-way socket on the vehicle" have the same type connector as the new end ? In other words if I have existing plug , but no socket, can I just plug into this new arrangement. Perhaps you have a picture of the inside of this socket ?

It sure does George. The T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness item # C55774 plugs into what's called a USCAR connector. This connector is at the end of the factory wiring on vehicles sold in North America with factory 7-Way connectors and towing packages. I attached a picture below for you.
The T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness item # C55774 is designed as a replacement for a factory 7-way connector. It'll plug right into your vehicle's wiring and provide you with a new 7-way and 4-way connector. The included mounting bracket will allow you to attach the new connector directly to your vehicle. If you do not want to drill, you can use the No-Drill Bracket item # C57202 to attach the item # C55774 directly to your vehicle's hitch.
