ORIS Hidden Hitch Fit and Bike Rack Compatibility for Tesla Model S Plaid

Question:
Subject: ORIS hitch compatibility with QuikrStuff Mach2 on Model S Plaid Hi, I’m considering the ORIS DM III hitch 200896 / 2071 / TS69VR for my 2022 Tesla Model S Plaid. I have a 2-inch QuikrStuff Mach2 bike rack. Can you confirm: - Does the Mach2’s expanding attachment work with this hitch, with both pads fully supported and its safety pin and the swivel mechanism properly secured? - Can the empty receiver be held down while I the rack? - What’s the maximum rack-plus-bikes weight, including any limits related to rack length? I see both 330 lb and 350 lb listed. - How much ground clearance does it lose, does installation require trimming, and can the factory cover go back on when folded? - Would a 2026 Plaid rear bumper/diffuser change the fit or clearance? - What warranty covers the folding mechanism, and are replacement parts available? Do you have photos or a video of this setup on a Plaid? Thanks, Nuno

Hey Nuno! The ORIS Disappearing Hitch # TS69VR is confirmed to fit your 2022 Tesla Model S Plaid. However, we don't carry the QuikrStuff Mach2, so I can't confirm compatibility with its expanding attachment or safety pin. I recommend checking with QuikrStuff on those details.
The hitch has a 330 lb tongue weight rating, but ORIS limits bike racks to 160 lbs total, including the rack and bikes, with a maximum of two bikes. The receiver doesn't lock in the lowered position when empty, so you'll need to hold it down while installing your rack.
The hitch installs behind the bumper without trimming, and the factory cover can be reinstalled when it's folded away. I don't have an exact ground clearance measurement or confirmation of clearance with the 2026 Plaid diffuser.
The # TS69VR has a 1-year warranty, but replacement parts for the folding mechanism aren't available separately. We also don't have photos or a video showing this hitch with the Mach2.
How many bikes are you planning to carry?

The challenge with this hitch is your second question: "Can the empty receiver be held down while I (install) the rack". It cannot. The hitch will pivot back when you try to install the bike rack. I worked around this with a small block of wood the size of a 2" hitch. Insert that into the receiver and it prevents it from pivoting back. Kind of a pain. I wish this hitch would lock in a down position.
