Will Thule OutPace 2 Bike Rack Fit 2015 Toyota Sequoia And Will Trunk Clear When Tilted Down?

Updated 10/09/2026 | Published 10/01/2026

Question:

Have you tested this OutPace with a 2015 Toyota Sequoia? If so, please let me know your findings. Also, will the back hatch open fully when the OutPace is attached with bikes?

Hey Dianne!

We haven't had the chance to test the Thule OutPace # TH39SA specifically on a 2015 Toyota Sequoia, but it will work with your Sequoia as long as you already have a compatible hitch receiver installed.

As for rear hatch access, the OutPace tilts down with the bikes still loaded. In the photos we've attached from similar-size SUVs, there is plenty of clearance for the hatch to open with the rack tilted away, so I wouldn't expect your Sequoia to have any clearance issues either.

You also shouldn't have to remove the bikes just to get into the cargo area, which is one of the nice things about this rack.

What kind of bikes are you carrying? The adjustable frame clamps make the OutPace pretty versatile with different bike frame styles.

Thank you so much for all your feedback! I have a WAU ebike from England that does have fenders. Not sure if this will work with the OutPace. I also have a LIV gravel bike that should work on any bike rack. Thank you for all your answers. Dianne

@Dianne Hey, you're very welcome. The fenders on your WAU e-bike won't be an issue since the OutPace # TH39SA secures bikes by the frame. The main concern is its 55-lb per-bike weight limit, as some WAU e-bikes are pretty heavy. Your LIV gravel bike should work just fine! Do you know the exact model and weight of your WAU e-bike? Some are 50lbs and some are 60lbs according to my research on that WAU ebike, so you'll want to check.
