Question:
Looking to put a hitch receiver on a 2017 GMC Terrain that currently has no towing package. It is for a wheelchair tray to carry a motorized electric wheelchair. I think it needs to be weight distribution capable. Can you help me find the best application? I also dont want the best as she is on a fixed budget. Thanks

Hello Michele,
Welcome to etrailer, I'm glad you found us!
I don't really know anyone who isn't on a fixed budget. I know I'm trying to save money wherever I can, so I completely understand wanting a good hitch without breaking the bank.
You will want our etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e98865. At this time, it is our most cost-effective option that is also rated for use with weight distribution. I actually have one of our etrailer hitches on my Escape, and I really like how the matte black finish blends in with the fascia better than the glossy black hitches.
Installation does not require any drilling into the vehicle's frame, but the center section of the fascia will need to be removed for the hitch installation. I attached an image so you can get a better idea of where the receiver will sit once everything is installed.
If the wheelchair tray has lights on it, you will also need the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness # 56094. This plugs in behind the rear tail lights and gives you a 4-way flat connector at the back of the vehicle to power the lights on the tray.
Does she already have a wheelchair tray, or are you still looking for one of those as well?
