2025 F-150 Hybrid Flat Towing Battery Charge Line Setup

Updated 09/12/2026 | Published 09/06/2026

Question:

I have a 2025 F150 King Ranch that I am outfitting to tow behind my RV. It is a Hybrid. Does that make any difference? Will the battery charge the same as a non-hybrid vehicle?

Hi Donald! Since your F-150 is the Hybrid, I would definitely add a charge line to keep the 12 volt battery maintained while you are flat towing but really that is the only difference. The Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit # RM-156-25 is a good option and provides up to 15 amps to maintain the towed vehicle's battery while you travel. It requires an active 12 volt charge circuit from your motorhome.

If your motorhome already has power on the 12 volt charge pin of its 7 way connector, you will not need anything else on the motorhome side. If it does not, the Roadmaster Motor Home Battery Charge Line Kit # RM-156-75 can add that charge circuit.

If you have not chosen a supplemental braking system yet, the CURT RVibrake Shadow 2 # RVI94FR is another option worth considering for your Hybrid. It has a built in battery charger and includes the Bullseye wireless monitor, which lets you keep an eye on the system while you travel.

It sounds like you are putting together a complete flat towing setup for your King Ranch. Do you have the rest of your components picked out yet?

I’ve installed the charge kit on our Ford CMax hybrid and Alison on our Ford Ranger. It works great on both vehicles with no issues. Keeps the batteries charged.

@Alan Alan, that’s great to hear! Real-world experience like that is always helpful, especially when it comes to hybrid vehicles. Where did you flat tow the Cmax?

Hi Heather. Yes I have ordered all the other components that I should have from ya’ll next week. I had a 2015 F150 that I had been towing prior to this truck. I had asked a question as to why that base plate was not applicable for the 2025 but have not had a response. I have ordered the base plate that’s a fit for the new truck. I already have Blue Ox Patriot that I will be using.

@Donald Oh I am sorry I didn't see a question about that. The Roadmaster base plate you purchased for the 2015 Ford only fits up to 2020.

We have installed this on our 2025 Ford Maverick hybrid and it works great. We have not had any issues at all.
