2016 Toyota Prius Towing Options: Flat Tow or Tow Dolly?

I have two Gen 4 Toyota Priuses. We would love to use one towed behind our future motorhome. Could we tow a 2016 Toyota Prius two? Thank you.

Hi Bonnie! Sadly, a 2016 Toyota Prius cannot be flat towed behind a motorhome with all four wheels on the ground. Toyota specifically states that the Prius is not designed for dinghy towing and warns not to tow it with all four wheels on the ground because of the potential for serious damage.
The good news is that you can still bring your Prius along by using a tow dolly. I would use the Demco Kar Kaddy SS Tow Dolly # DM9713093. It has surge activated disc brakes, so the disc brakes provide smooth, consistent stopping power while you're towing. I know that's probably not the answer you were hoping for, especially if the goal was to make the Prius a simple four wheel down setup, but I would definitely follow Toyota's towing guidelines here rather than risk damaging your Prius.

We tow our 2019 VW Beetle with this car dolly. We have also towed our Buick Enclave. You dont even know the car is behind the motor home. When towing you need to plan gas stops that can handle the length and has room to pull in and out of the station.You do not want to get in a situation to have to back up with the car in tow.
