Anti-Rattle Device Recommendation for 2018 Toyota Highlander with OEM Hitch

Updated 09/02/2026 | Published 08/26/2026

Question:

I have a 2018 Highlander with a factory installed hitch. There is no lip on the receiver so I cant use the etrailer anti rattle device. Also, the top of the receiver is covered with thick vinyl. I tow a 17 foot casita with 250 to 300 tongue weight. Which anti rattle device can I use?

Hey John, since you said you are towing your ball mount should have a hollow shank ball mount which means the best anti-rattle device will be the part # 63232 which doubles as a hitch lock as well. Once installed it would hold the ball mount tight to the hitch tube which would get rid of all movement and prevent theft as well.

I purchased this anti rattle hitch lock and installed it on my Tundra Hitch then drove it from SoCal to Alaska and back. I had no issues whatsoever and it performed perfectly. I highly recommend it. It takes about 5minutes to install but once installed it works great. Mark G

I bought this hitch lock a few years ago for my 2005 Pathfinder with a factory receiver. There's not much room for the lock cylinder but it will fit. Fortunately, if you don't need the lock, the anti-rattle feature still works great. I carry a 5/8 box wrench to tighten and loosen the screw in hitch pin.
