Question:
Interested in mounting this AC in my 5th wheel bedroom as a second AC. Couple of questions please. 1. Is an extension kit available/required for a thicker 5th wheel roof? 2. I will require a 25foot one way wire run from my battery to the AC. What size of wire do you recommend? Thank you.

Hey Mark! The Furrion Chill Cube systems # FR59TD (Non-Ducted) and # FR99TD (Ducted) can be installed on a roof up to 6" thick, so you won't need an extension kit as long as your 5th wheel's roof is within that range. If your roof is thicker than 6", Furrion doesn't offer an extension kit so you will need to source longer hardware locally.
For your 25' wire run, the Furrion is a 120V AC air conditioner, so it won't be wired directly to your 5th wheel's battery. You'll want to use 12-gauge wire on a dedicated 20-amp, 120V circuit. A 25' run is perfectly fine with 12-gauge wire for this setup. Since it sounds like you don't have any kind of AC prep I'm assuming you don't have ducts, so the # FR59TD is the right model for the bedroom.
If you were referring to the Velit 2000R # VE77QV when you mentioned running the wire directly from your battery, that's a 12V DC system and is a completely different setup. Velit calls for 6-gauge wire for a normal installation, but for a run longer than 15' they require the wire to be sized according to NEC requirements for a 12V/60A circuit.
This really isn't designed for a 5th wheel so it would likely take some custom work to get it to work with your roof. I would reach out to Velit directly about the installation and see what they say if you want to go that route. However, for a second AC in your 5th wheel bedroom I'd stick with the Furrion and a dedicated 120V circuit.
What kind of 5th wheel do you have?
