The Dometic charger outputs a regulated charging voltage that's intended to charge a 12V battery bank, and the Yeti's DC charging input is designed to accept that type of input.

The one thing to verify is the maximum input current and connector type on your specific Yeti 1500 model. The Dometic charger is limited to 10 amps, so it's well within what the Yeti can accept, but you'll need the proper cable or adapter to connect the charger's output to the Yeti's charging port.

Thank you Jesse My Yeti 1500X has 2 12V charging ports. the goal zero is in a pull behind trailer. The 8 mm barrel plug was connected to the goal zero 12v dc to dc charger that ran through the aux pin on the 7 pin trailer hitch. This is rated for a max of 10 amps, but I normally used it on the 5 amp setting. the 7 pin 12V aux power connection is rated at 30 amps per the truck manufacture (GMC). The other 12V charging connection is for solar panels, and is an HPP. I understand Yeti uses an unusual configuration for this where the pos and neg terminals are stacked vertically. My truck has a smart alternator which seems to create problems for some chargers. Does the dometic charger adjust for that that? Also - the 12V aux power is constantly on through the hitch connection. It runs at about 14.8V with the engine running - though I assume this varies. I just checked it with the truck running in park. when the truck is off the voltage at that same pin is about 12.8 volts. Does your unit autodetect if the power is from the alternator or not? Or does it need a separate IGN 12v signal? Sorry for all the questions. The goal zero charger died after about 18 months of service. Yeti is not selling them anymore, and i would like to upgrade to something a bit more robust. Thanks!

@MattR Thanks for the extra details. Yes, the Dometic charger is designed to work with smart alternators. It monitors the input voltage and boosts it to the proper charging profile for the battery on the output side, so it doesn't need a separate ignition signal to recognize when the engine is running. With your truck showing 14.8V running and 12.8V off, you've got plenty of input voltage for it to operate correctly through the 7-way auxiliary circuit.

@JesseM oh..you asked what it powers. a few lights (the trailer is small). a water pump and a Dometic fridge. It all works fine, and the power draw is not that much even in hot conditions. With some but limited solar charging (shade / trees partially obscuring) I can be out for a week and keep things good with the panels. the 12V charging from the truck is both a back up plan, and makes it easier on longer road trips. I don't have to worry about getting the solar panels out at each stop. The aux power is plenty to charge me up between camp sites
