Replacement Corners for Front Runner Slimline II Roof Rack

Updated 08/07/2026 | Published 07/28/2026

Question:

I have a Front Runner Roof Rack on a VW Vanagon. Yes, it is a big rack. I am missing two of the radiused corners and would like to replace them. Im having trouble finding them listed as a spare part anywhere. Do you know how I can purchase these corners? The Vanagon is a 1989 model,  though I think the roof and rain gutters went unchanged from 1980 to 1991. I have the two for the rear but I missing the fronts.  The previous owner removed them to fit the roof tent. I am planning to sell the roof tent and want put the rack back to how it should be. I have the transverse piece of extrusion,  I am just missing the two corners and the hardware. Thanks, Dave K

Hey David!

To replace the radiused corners on your 1989 Volkswagen Vanagon's Front Runner Slimline II roof rack, you will need the Replacement Corner Kit for Front Runner Slimline II Roof Rack # FR43NF. This is a full kit, so does it have all four corners instead of just the two you need, but the extras are something that's good to have on hand if and when you need them.

How long have you had the Vanagon? Are you selling the tent because you're upgrading or are you just not a fan of rooftop camping?
