Question:
I have a 2024 Wolf Pup 16FQ. We really like the unit except the a/c. The Coleman unit is incredibly loud. Also, the temp setting just very much good. We want a quieter unit with a reliable thermostat. We dont need heat as we have two sources of heat for the unit. Also, would like more btus as well. We live in Central Tx and prefer a unit that can quickly cool down the unit and keep it cool. What would etrailer sugggest?

Hi Dana! If it were my Wolf Pup, I'd replace the Coleman with a Furrion Chill Cube without hesitation. For a non-ducted trailer, I recommend Part # FR59TD, and if your Wolf Pup has a ducted system, you'll want Part # FR49TD instead. The biggest difference you'll notice is how much quieter it is. The variable speed compressor doesn't slam on at full power like a traditional RV air conditioner, so you don't get that loud startup every time the compressor cycles. It also does a much better job of maintaining a consistent temperature instead of letting the trailer get warm before kicking back on.
Since you're in Central Texas, I think you'll really appreciate the extra cooling capacity. At 18,000 BTUs, the Chill Cube has more than enough power to cool a Wolf Pup 16FQ down quickly, even after it's been sitting in the sun all day. Once it reaches your set temperature, the variable speed compressor slows down instead of constantly cycling on and off, which keeps the trailer more comfortable and significantly reduces the noise inside.
One quick question for you. Does your Wolf Pup have a ducted ceiling system, or is the air conditioner the non-ducted style that blows directly into the living area?
