Will this fold up on a 2025 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

Hey Robert,

Thanks for your question. We haven't had the opportunity to test the Thule Outpace # TH39SA on a 2025 Jeep Grand Cherokee, so I can't say for certain whether it will clear the rear bumper or hatch when folded.

When folded, the # TH39SA measures 4-1/4 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the closest point on the bike rack. To check compatibility, measure from the center of your hitch pin hole straight back to the point where the bumper or rear hatch would interfere. If that distance is less than 4-1/4 inches, the rack should fold without making contact.

If you need more clearance, the Hollywood Racks Destination 2 Bike Rack # HLY94FR is a similar option that provides 10 inches of clearance when folded. The tradeoff is that it's rated for 35 lbs per bike, so it's best suited for lighter bikes.

Another possibility is using the # TH39SA with a hitch extender to gain additional clearance. Just keep in mind that hitch extenders reduce your hitch's tongue weight capacity by up to 50%, so you'll need to verify that both your hitch receiver and your Jeep still have enough capacity to safely support the combined weight of the rack and bikes.

The bike rack folds straight up. I have a Bronco not a Jeep. But as long as you don’t have anything jutting out behind your lift gate you should be ok. Not sure if you have a spare tire which could be a problem. You might want to contact Thule directly about your model Jeep.

Thanks for the prompt response. I have been out of town but finally was able to measure the distance from center of pin to the nearest obstruction and it is less than 4.25” so it should not be an issue. Now I just have to wait for a sale to test it out.

Mostly casual riding on rail trails. We have a Yakima Full Swing that we use for our Treks but we are venturing into the e-bike arena and are purchasing 2 Velotric Tempos (39 lbs) and the Yakima is heavy and requires an adapter for my wife’s bike.

@RobertF The # TH39SA would be great option. The arms will pivot to be able to accommodate different frame types like the step through which is becoming more popular. The maximum tire width is 3" but from what I could find on the Velotric Tempos that shouldn't be an issue.
