Hi Richard,

Thanks for your question!

While I'm not sure which model year Ford Maverick you're looking at, I did some research and found that a number of owners have reported battery drain while flat towing.

Installing the Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit for Towed Vehicles # RM-156-25 is a great way to help maintain the Maverick's battery while it's being towed. We recommend this kit for the Ford Maverick, and many owners have had good results using it to prevent the battery from discharging during long trips.

One thing that's sometimes overlooked is that your motorhome also needs to supply a charging circuit. Some motorhomes come with this already wired from the factory, and it's easy to check. Using a voltmeter, test the 1 o'clock pin on the motorhome's 7-way connector. If you don't have 12 volts at that pin, you'll also need the Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit for Motorhomes # RM-156-75 to provide power to the charge line.

It's also important to follow any flat towing procedures outlined by Ford. Depending on the model year, that may include steps such as starting and running the vehicle periodically during the day to help prevent battery drain.

Out of curiosity, what kind of battery issues have you been experiencing with your Equinox while flat towing?
