Side Mounted Trailer Jack With Dual Caster Wheels

Updated 07/21/2026 | Published 07/13/2026

Question:

Can you swap out the flat plate with a double caster wheel on this trailer jack? I see that the plate is welded in place and not attached with a pin.

Hi Neal!

We may have an option for you, but the foot plate on the etrailer Round, Pipe Mount Swivel Jack w/ Footplate - Weld On - Sidewind - 10" Travel - 3,000 lbs # TJP-5001S-B is indeed welded on and cannot be removed without seriously altering the jack. The typical caster wheels we have for jack are not rated anywhere near the 3,000 pound capacity of this jack, and you would need to further alter the leg to get a pin to keep that caster wheel in place. I'm not saying this can't be done, but I don't think I can recommend it either.

That being said, check out the etrailer Boat Trailer Jack w/ 2 Wheels - Sidewind - Swivel - 10-3/8" Lift - Zinc - 1.5K # MJ-1500B-DWL. This does have half the capacity of the other jack (which is a bummer), but it does have the dual wheels and it bolts on instead of needing to be welded. So it isn't the same as what you are looking for, but I think it could serve you pretty well.

What kind of trailer are you needing a new jack for? And how much weight is typically on it?

I used the jack with the two wheels on my welded steel trailer and 20 ft AlumaCraft boat and it seems to work just fine. Only had it on for a few months now but has worked fine so far.

@MiltonE Glad to hear it's working well for you! Cool boat as well! ^___^ Are you using it for fishing or more of a pleasure craft?

@LazerS. 100% duck hunting boat, I hunt the big water of Pamlico River and Pamlico Sound, I hunt 30 to 40 times a year, all salt water so takes a toll on your trailer. I have had to change out the wench last year and the Jack, I also ordered fenders and will change them soon.

@MiltonE Oh cool! I haven't had the chance to do that yet, but it's definitely on my list! My brother did it a couple months ago out in California (not sure exactly where) and he said it was a blast! There are some pretty good spots for it here in Missouri (so I hear), so I will definitely give it a try at some point! Have fun out there and just let me know if there is anything I can help with down the road!
