Troubleshooting Running Light Circuit Not Working on Trailer Wiring of Nissan Frontier

Updated 07/01/2026 | Published 06/28/2026

Question:

I have a 2022 Nissan Frontier SV with Tow package. All trailer lights have worked up until recently. I had noticed not all my trailer lights were working so i rewired the trailer. It is a simple 4 pin. After wiring the trailer everything worked except the running lights. I tested all the pins and all are receiving power except for the pin for the running lights. I have checked all the fuses that i can find to check and everything looks good. I also checked the 7 pin connector on the vehicle and it is receiving power to all pins except for the pin for the running lights. Is there any direction you can point me to check would be much appreciated. Thank you and have a great day.

Hey Jeremiah, you've done a great job troubleshooting and have determined that the issue is on your tow vehicle and not your trailer wiring since there's no power to the running lights circuit at the 7-way. Since you already checked the fuses it's got to be an issue on the wiring closer to the trailer connector. Most likely the issue is right at the 7-way or right behind it. Look for corrosion, bent pin, or damage to the wiring that is on the backside of the connector and fix as needed.

Did you check any of the relays for the trailer wiring? Nissans have some brown and blue relays either under the dash or behind passenger side kick panel as well.
