Question:

What is the maximum weight that the RA-27C Double Barrel tailgate assist unit will handle? Also do you know what changes have to be made to mount this unit on a 24inch high side rail?

The Double Barrel tailgate assist # RA-27C will help with approximately 130 pounds. Anything beyond that is the amount of weight you would be lifting, give or take a few pounds.

The problem with mounting it higher than the 10 to 15 inch rail height is that you would have to have the connection to the tailgate so low that it would not help at all. You might be able to weld on a support to the trailer frame sides that is 10 to 15 inches up from the deck and use it that way.
