Question:
I am looking for the best 2 e-bike approved carrier for a 40’ 5th wheel. Key is 5th wheel trailer. My last rack that was “approved” for 5th wheels was a joke and damaged my bike, camper and the rack itself is now junk. The movement behind a 5th wheel is nothing short of violent. Rack must be strong and sturdy. Please advise. Thank you

Hi Bill,
There's definitely a ton of movement for bikes that are being carried on the back of a 5th wheel. The heavy weight of the e-bikes makes it a harder ride on the bikes and bike rack too. That being said, since your other rack had trouble holding up, I recommend trying the Lets Go Aero V-Lectric VFR Bike Rack for 2 Electric Bikes part # LGA25VR. This rack is rated for use with fifth wheels, motorhomes, trucks, travel trailers, etc. and is built on a steel TwinTube frame with a shank with a 4" rise to give you more ground clearance, so it is solid! We all know e-bikes can be heavy, so this rack includes a 57" ramp, so you can roll your e-bikes up onto the rack instead of trying to lift them. It can handle 160lbs, 80lbs per bike, and its wheel trays fit tires up to 4 1/2" wide. The V-Lectric also includes an anti-rattle hitch pin with keyed-alike locks (one for the hitch and one for the bikes) so you can secure the hitch and bikes to your fifth wheel for some peace of mind when you're parked.
What's the next trip you're taking your e-bikes on?

Hello Bill, We purchased the Let's Go Aero V-Lectric VFR Bike Rack for 2 Electric Bikes from etrailer and have been using it on back of our 36ft Montana 5th wheel for some time. We transport 2 ebikes, each about 60 lbs, including all accessories. This rack has been extremely stout for us and has served the purpose without any failure. I should comment all our travel with this rack has been on paved highways, so my comments do not address more taking, unpaved conditions. Our bikes are held securely and the rack remains firm in the receiver on the 5th wheel. One minor issue is with the foam cushioning that prevents bike frame damage where the bike frames secure to the adjustable-angle vertical rack elements. The foam prevents metal to bike-finish contact, but does leave black residue on the bike frame paint finish. I suppose it is possible they have improved this since we purchased our rack, but I do not know. Maybe Claire can comment on this. Overall, our Let's Go Aero V-Lectric VFR Bike Rack has served us well.

Bill, We purchased the Lets Go Aero a couple years ago to haul our Aventon Aventure E- Bikes on our Rockwood Mini-Lite . After extensive research, this was my choice because it was RV rated for bumper pull TT. It is well built and has held up well for us. We completed a 3000 mile trip in April from Upper Michigan through Wisconsin, Illinois,Indiana, Ohio, West Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee, Kentucky. Some of our Interstates are in horrible condition. The rack and bikes survived the trip. We added extra padding on close contact points to prevent possible damage. Just make sure to check your straps at every stop and make sure they are tight. Hope this helps.
