Replacing Old Dometic Air Conditioner In 2019 Keystone Passport 2400BH With Heat Strip

Question:

I’m replacing an older Dometic AC on my 2019 Keystone Passport 2400BH and I like the idea of having a little heat too. Does the Advent Air have heat?

That’s a great question, Brian. For your 2019 Keystone Passport 2400BH, I’d bet you have a ducted setup since that’s a larger travel trailer, so I’d look at a ducted Advent Air kit like the Advent Air RV Air Conditioner System - 13,500 Btu - Ducted - Black # ADV59QR, or the 15,500 Btu ducted kit # ADV69QR if you want the higher-capacity option. If yours happens to be a ductless setup instead, then you’d want the 13,500 Btu non-ducted kit # ADV27QR or the 15,500 Btu non-ducted kit # ADV49QR.

The optional Advent Air heat strip # ADV34QR is more for taking the chill out of the air on cool mornings. It gives you 5,000 BTU of supplemental heat, but it does not turn the Advent Air AC into a true heat pump, and it should not be treated like a replacement for the main furnace in your Passport.

The nice part is that the heat strip is designed to be an easy add-on. It mounts to the evaporator inside the AC unit with the included screws and uses the supplied 30" power cord for a plug-and-play connection. Since you’re replacing an older Dometic system with one of the new R32 Advent Air kits, I’d plan on swapping the full system together instead of trying to reuse older air box or control parts. This kit luckily comes with everything needed.
