Recommended Anti-Rattle Device for a Bike Rack Used w/a 2" Hitch Receiver

Updated 06/19/2026 | Published 06/16/2026

Question:

Looking to buy this RockyMounts bike rack for my Sorento 2020 with a 2 inch hitch. I the next two years, will change the car to a smaller one that will probably have only a 1-1/4 hitch so I think it will be a great idea to use an adapter so I will not have to change my bike rack. I look on your website and there is multiple option. I want to make sure to not have any wobbling on the rack. What to you recommand? Also, I notice the 1-1/4 monorail rack is higher that the 2 inch hitch. is that high will cause any problem on the fonctionality of the rack? Thanks for your support!

Welcome back Daniel. The RockyMounts MonoRail Bike Rack for 2 Bikes item # RKY10003 can be used on your Sorento's 2" hitch receiver with the RockyMounts 1-1/4" to 2" Hitch Adapter Sleeve item # RKY54FR. It simply bolts onto the 1-1/4" shank allowing it to securely fit inside a 2" receiver. The 2" height difference will not affect the function of the bike racks.

To prevent your bike rack wobbling and moving around in your Kia's 2" receiver, I recommend our etrailer Anti-Rattle Hitch Collar for 2" Hitch Receivers item # e38FV. It's going to securely wrap around the lip of your Sorento's hitch and restrict the movement of your bike rack or any ball mounts shank. It's quickly and easily adjustable by the knob on the bottom.

I linked a couple of review videos we made below so you can see our etrailer Anti-Rattle Hitch Collar item # e38FV in action.

What bikes do you have and how heavy are they?

This anti-rattle hitch does not fit either my 2023 Tacoma or my 2026 Tundra. The receiver flange is too wide.

I use the anti rattle device on a 2025 Chevy Blazer. It greatly reduces noise from the receiver due to the unibody construction of the vehicle. The only problem is that I cannot use the factory plastic cover over the receiver with the anti rattle device on.as it is in the way.So I remove the device if I'm not towing for a while. Other than that it seems to be a good product at a reasonable cost.

Good Luck, Daniel. I use this hitch rattle device with my camper. I also have a great bike rack for our e-bikes, which are a pretty light model of pedal-assist Treks. It's great that he is inquiring about the weight with a 2 inch vs a 4 inch. This hitch device works great for me, but I am on my second one. I did not remove it from my truck during the winter and it rusted out, breaking one of the functional screws. Like another user, I recommend removing it when not in use for long periods of time, especially in the winter. Maybe apply some anti-rust spray or oil. It's very easy to take on and off and does a great job of removing any movement and rattle. They replaced mine for only shipping cost of the returned damaged one.

I think the product is of good quality. I does NOT work on a 22 to current Toyota Tundra. There is no room between the welds on the receiver (OE) for the product to clamp properly. I did not try to file the welds or alter the OE receiver for concern of weakening the welds. The product would work well with enough room to clamp properly to a long receiver box between welds
