Is The 18K Furrion Chill Cube A Good Upgrade From A 8K Furrion Chill Unit?
Updated 06/17/2026 | Published 06/15/2026 >
Question:
We have a Springdale 1660RB with a Furrion 8K Chill Cube FACR08HESA2-PS / Lippert 2024006031. We have 2 issues with it. First its really noisy. Second it struggles to cool the trailer on 90°+ days. Currently looking for options that are quieter and work in the Texas heat. Would the Furrion 18K Chill Cube a good upgrade? I see that it is supposed to be one of the quieter ACs and has at least 3 fan speeds. Hopefully the install would be as easy as connecting the existing connectors to the new AC. Thanks in advance for your help.

Hey Patrick, thanks for reaching out. Yes, the 18K Chill Cube will be a significant upgrade from your 8K Chill unit. They are indeed one of the quieter ACs on the market, and they do a great job cooling. Usually they can cool air around 20-25 degrees below ambient temp, so it'll make those 90+ degree days and Texas heat much more bearable.
That said, upgrading to the 18K Chill Cube will require replacing the entire AC system. They need their own thermostat, distribution box, and controllers so you will be doing away with all the old equipment and replacing it. The good news is the roof opening requirement is the same, so you won't have to modify that at all - just install new equipment.
We offer the 18K unit as a full AC system. Assuming your Springdale 1660RB has a ductless system, here is what I recommend:
- Furrion Variable Speed Chill Cube RV Air Conditioner w/ Heat Pump - Ductless - 18K Btu - White - R32 # FR77TQ
This comes with the rooftop unit, ductless distribution box and wireless thermostat/remote control. Everything you need to upgrade. This will be a noticeable, worthwhile upgrade from your current setup. I think you'll be very happy with it.
Do you do a lot of camping during the summer?
