Hi there, I wanted to see if you can confirm that this tire will fit clearance wise on a 2019 wolf pup 16bhs. The stock tires are ST205/75R14 but I’d like to upgrade if possible. Thank you!

Hi Davy,

It may be possible to switch to larger tires and wheels, but you'll need to do some measuring to make sure you have clearance before you do. A ST225/75R15 tire and wheel is generally 2.2" taller overall and 0.8" wider than your current ST205/75R14 tires. For a trailer, you generally want at least 3" to 4" of clearance from the top of the tire to the bottom of the wheel well and 1" to 2" of clearance from the inside edge of the tire to the frame rail. Not having enough clearance could result in the tires making contact with the frame or fender, so ensuring there's enough space is critical.

Of course, you'll also want to confirm that the new wheel matches your current bolt pattern and has the same stud size as the new tires/wheels you're looking at. The Taskmaster Provider ST225/75R15 part # TA56AR has bolt pattern of 5 on 4 1/2" and a wheel stud size of 1/2"-20, so your current tire/wheel will need to be the same measurements. I changed my tire size from 205 to 225 with no problem. I think the thing you need to watch out for is clearance between the tire and the wheel well fender. If you have a small distance between the tire and the fender, it is possible to hit a pot hole or a bump in the road and the two could connect and the tire might rip off the fender or worse! Increasing the tire size will give you another 1/2”to5/8” height increase. They look cool too!
