Weight Distribution Recommendation for 2024 GMC Sierra 3500 Towing SXS Trailer with 12 inch Drop

Published 06/10/2026

Question:

I have a 2024 GMC 3500 with a 6.5 lift and 37 tires. I haul a truck camper on it and use a 41 hitch extension to tow a side by side. Trailer and side by side weigh combined at 4500 lbs. I also use a 10 drop hitch but its not all the way level once hooked up but close. Im looking for a weight distribution hitch that I can still back up when in use. I think a 12 drop would be better to get more adjustability out of it. What do you recommend?

Hey Jeff, thank you for all of the info you mentioned. Based on all of that the weight distribution system you would want is the Equal-i-zer part # EQ37061ET with the drop shank part # EQ34FR which can do up to a 12 inch drop like you need and also fits the 2.5 inch hitch your 2024 GMC Sierra 3500 has. Are you getting any sag or sway with the setup currently?

Actually the extension is a 2.5” to a 2” so I would need a 2” shank. I have Logiq dual air bags that fixes the sag. What do you have for a 2” shank? Much appreciated!

@JeffT ahh makes sense! You'd want the part # EQ44FR instead then.
