Weight Distribution Recommendation for 32 ft Ranger Tug R29 Boat Trailer

Updated 06/09/2026 | Published 06/02/2026

Question:

Hello! Towing Questions: We have a 2016 Ford F-350 Diesel Crew Cab 8 bed that we use to tow our 29 Winnebago Minnie approx 6400 lbs or our 32 Ranger Tug R29 trawler approx 12,500 lbs incl trailer. Are there recommendations for better/smoother towing? i.e., shocks, rear stabilizers, etc. We have an Equalizer hitch for the Winnebago, is there such a thing for the boat? Also, do you install any of the items that might be recommended? Our daughter lives in Wentzville, so it would be fairly convenient. Thanks and All the BestEV Eric

Hey Eric, it is possible to use a weight distribution system with a boat trailer but you will need to use a pole tongue adapter like the part # EQ95-01-5950 which was designed to be used with Equalizer brand weight distribution systems like what you have now.

Based on the weight of your trailer a system like the part # EQ37140ET would be the correct rated system.

A WD system like this would be best option to improve your ride quality when towing. How do you like the system you have on your camper currently?

When I installed this on my boat trailer there was a hydraulic brake line about 1/2" in front of the adapter in the tongue. When I towed with it the first time, the adapter slid forward and was just about to cut into the brake line when i checked it. I tried to tighten the bolts on the adapter but it did not work. I welded the the adapter to the pole and it hasn't moved since.
