Updated 05/21/2026 | Published 05/19/2026

Question:

Hi, What are my options to add a Spare Tire Mount to a All-Aluminum 5 by 8 Utility Tailer Made by ATC Model AB5008? I was thinking either Driver Side Rail or flat on A Frame.

Hi Ronald, great questions.

For your ATC AB5008 aluminum trailer, I’d recommend either the etrailer Spare Tire Mount part # e99045 for the driver side rail or the Demco Spare Tire Mount part # DM15851-76 for mounting flat on the A frame. Both are bolt on options, so they work well for aluminum trailers without requiring welding.

The etrailer mount part e99045 is a really nice fit if your side rail falls within its clamp range. It fits trailer rails that measure 1-1/2 inches to 2 inches long and 1/8 inch to 1/4 inch thick, and it works with 12 inch to 15 inch wheels and tire widths up to 8 inches. It also supports the common bolt patterns including 4 on 4, 5 on 4-1/2, 5 on 5, 6 on 5-1/2, and 8 on 6-1/2. That setup keeps the spare easy to access while preserving your trailer deck space.

The Demco part # DM15851-76 is a great option if you’d rather keep the spare mounted up and out of the way on the trailer tongue. It attaches around trailer tongues up to 4 inches tall by 3-1/2 inches wide and fits wheel bolt patterns from 4 on 4 up to 8 on 6-1/2. It also has a black powder coat finish with a 500 hour salt spray rating to help resist corrosion over time, which is especially nice on an aluminum trailer. Trailer mounting hardware is included as well.

Since your trailer is aluminum and the mounts are steel, I would recommend using a rubber or neoprene barrier between the mount and frame along with anti seize on the hardware to help prevent galvanic corrosion over time.

What do you usually haul on the ATC 5x8, mowers, lumber, or toys?
