Best Roof Rack For Carrying Thule Hullavator On A 2026 Toyota RAV4

How wide a cross bar do I need to fit a hullavator and a Yakima sweet roll on a 2026 Rav 4. I can’t do a Jay rack since it is too high to lift and I have two fairly wide kayaks 30 inch and 31 in wide Would like the hullavator so I could manage by myself. Also, is there any cross bar system that is easy to take on and off when not using?

Hello Jane, thanks for reaching out. For putting a Hullavator # TH898 on your 2026 Toyota RAV4 a 53" crossbar will give you enough overhang. Here is what I recommend for the roof rack:
- Thule WingBar Evo Crossbars - Aluminum - Silver - 53" Long - Qty 2 # TH711400
- Evo Fixpoint Feet for Thule Evo Crossbars - Fixed Mounting Points and Tracks - Qty 4 # TH49SC
- Fit Kit for Thule Evo Fixpoint and Edge Fixpoint Roof Rack Feet - 7055 # TH78RE
Those 3 parts make the full roof rack system for the fixed point flush rails that come on the RAV4.
As far as removing the rack, there isn't really anything specifically made to be easily removable. The fit kit and towers bolt to the roof, so to remove it you'd have to unbolt the towers and fit its every time. Once you have everything assembled this would probably be a 10–15-minute process. This will be the case for any rack you put on your RAV4. Typically, once people install these, they just leave them on. I'm not saying you can't remove it if you want to, it just wouldn't exactly be convenient. The only downside is you can't open or vent the glass roof with the crossbars in place.
Did you want to remove the rack so you could operate the sunroof? Or was that for garage clearance?

I don’t have a sunroof. I thought about removing rack since I don’t kayak that often and it affects gas mileage.
