Question:
I have a 2015 Honda Accord and would like to purchase a trailer hitch for my 2 Thule bike rack. You only sell a 1 and 1/4 hitch. Is there an adapter kit, or what would you recommend?

Hi William!
The hitches available for your 2015 Honda Accord will be the Class 1 hitches with the 1-1/4" opening, like the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class I - 1-1/4" # C11681. With that being said, you can indeed use an adapter to get your Thule bike rack to fit.
The one I typically recommend for smaller vehicles is the etrailer Trailer Hitch Adapter - 1-1/4" to 2" Hitch - 4-1/2" Drop/5" Rise - 6-1/2" L # e93YR. This will adapt the 1-1/4" hitch to a 2" hitch, but it also has the added benefit of giving you 6-1/2" of rise. We found that when we installed the # C11681 hitch on a 2015 Accord, it sat at 11-1/2" so it may not be needed, but it never hurts to have a bit more clearance. The hitch also sat 2-3/4" back from the bumper (measured at the pin hole), so this adapter will also have no issue clearing your bumper. If you don't want the added height, we do also have it without the rise with the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver Adapter 1-1/4" to 2" Hitch - 6-1/2" Long # e43YR.
Just be aware that using either of these options (or any adapter like this) will reduce your tongue weight by 50%. That means the 200 pound tongue weight capacity of the # C11681 hitch will only be 100 pounds. As long as the weight of your Thule bike rack and the 2 bikes on it is no more than 100 pounds, you will be fine.
One thing I also very highly recommend when using one of these is the Roadmaster Quiet Hitch for 1-1/4" Trailer Hitches # RM-061-125. This will make sure the adapter doesn't move around when installed in the hitch. It's a fairly simple design, but it does a very good job. If you don't already have one, you will also need something like the Curt Hitch Pin and Clip for 1-1/4" Hitches - 1/2" Diameter x 2" Span - Plastic Grip # C21410 to Keep the adapter in place (or the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock for 1-1/4" Hitches # e98879 to lock it in place).
What kind of bikes do you carry? And out of curiosity, do you know which Thule bike rack you have?
