Recommended Modern AC System For Older Noisy Air Conditioner In Camper With 30A Hookup

Published 05/12/2026

Question:

I’ve got a 30 amp camper and I’m replacing the AC mostly because the old one is tired and noisy. I don’t need the biggest unit out there. Is the Coleman-Mach Mach 3 a better fit than jumping to a 15K?

Good morning Etta, yes the Coleman-Mach Signature Mach 3 # CM97RR is a good option if you want to stay with a 13,500 Btu unit instead of stepping up to a 15K. It has a listed cooling draw of 12.8 amps, so it’s a practical choice for a 30 amp camper when you’re still trying to manage other RV loads.

Just keep in mind # CM97RR is the rooftop unit only. If your current setup is older and not already R32 compatible, you’ll need the matching interior parts too: # CM46RR for ductless or # CM36RR for ducted. You can also use the Coleman-Mach heater kit # CM96RR if you want light electric heat for chilly days. Is your current Coleman setup ducted, Etta?
