Can Curt Rebellion XD Be Flipped Over Into Rise Position

Updated 05/12/2026 | Published 05/07/2026

Question:

Can you turn this hitch 180 degree and use it for rise?

Hey Dan! The Curt Rebellion XD Shock Absorbing Adjustable Ball Mount # C57UR has to remain in the drop configuration. You can achieve 1" of rise because of how the holes sit but that is the max. It will not function properly if you flip it over into a true rise position.

How much of a rise do you need and what is the tongue weight of your setup?

about 2000 lb tongue weight. Looking for about 3 inch rise to sit level on a 18K skidsteer trailer. Ford F250 sits low.

@Dan that exceeds the tongue weight capacity of that ball mount anyway. The Gen-Y Torsion 2-Ball Mount # GY79FR has a 3" rise and fits a 2-1/2" hitch. The optimal tongue weight for the torsion shock absorption is 2,000 lbs - 3,500 lbs so that would work with this setup.

@RobinH I tried that hitch and did not like the overall length of it. I would have to modify all Safety Chains on my trailers. Looking to go with a Air Shocker hitch but they do not have many options for Rise!

@Dan yeah that is why I didn't recommend it. Closest option that can handle that tongue weight would be # SHK35VR if you can live with a 2" rise.
