Which is Smoother the Curt Rebellion or the Shocker Hitch

Updated 04/06/2026 | Published 02/14/2025

Question:

I have a 2018 Ram 2500 with a 2 1/2 inch receiver pulling a 7000 lbs travel trailer with 1000lbs of tongue weight. I would like to smooth the ride in both the truck and trailer and am looking at the Curt rebellion vs the shocker hitch. Which one would you recommend?

Hey Jeff, this is a great question. We actually had an affiliate of ours test basically all of the shock absorbing ball mount options out and what he found was that the Shocker part # SHK46VR and the Curt Rebellion both worked really well. He did find that he favored the Curt Rebellion like the part # C57UR which was a surprise but it was what he said was the best.

Hey Jeff, how did the Curt Rebellion end up working out for your Ram and trailer setup? It’d be great to hear if it helped smooth out the ride like you were hoping. Your update could make it easier for others comparing these two hitches.

This was the reason I went with the Curt over the Gen-Y. I've only towed the camper home from RV service so far but have a trip in 2 weeks and can't wait to see how this performs on our longer trips this year. We have 3 trips over 200mi planned including 1 over 300mi. So far tho it's been great!
