Question:
I’m between the GE 13.5K high efficiency unit and going up to a 15K AC. We only have 30 amp service and sometimes camp where power is a little weak. Would GE44FR be the smarter pick?

Good afternoon Naveen, yes the GE Appliances HE # GE44FR is worth looking at for a 30-amp RV because it’s the 13,500 Btu high-efficiency model and is rated for a 15-amp circuit breaker. That can make it a good fit when you’re trying to keep your AC setup a little easier to manage on limited campground power.
This one is the rooftop AC replacement unit only, so it’s a good choice if you’re already planning to build out the rest of the GE system with compatible interior components. For a ducted setup, you’d pair it with the Ducted Install Kit for GE Appliances RV ACs # GE56FR, which includes the air distribution box, thermostat, and controls. For a ductless setup (RV with no ceiling AC vents), you’d use the Ductless Install Kit for GE Appliances RV ACs # GE46FR instead.
The main thing I would not do is plan on mixing this new R32 rooftop unit with older pre-2025 AC controls or ceiling assemblies. If your existing AC system is older, it’s best to replace the matching interior components at the same time so everything communicates and operates correctly. The new stuff simply won’t bolt onto the older stuff either.
If you decide you’d rather step up to 15,000 Btu and you have a ductless setup, the GE Appliances Deluxe Plus # GE34RR you were looking at is the complete ductless system, so it would give you the rooftop unit, air distribution box, thermostat, and controls together. What type of setup do you have now, Naveen?
