Regarding Curt 51180 , my vehicle has a 4 plug connector and I use a 4-to-7 adapter. Will this controller activate the trailer brakes without additional wiring?

Hi Douglas!
It's almost that simple to get the Curt Echo Wireless Brake Controller - 7-Way Plug-in w/ Bluetooth App - Up to 2 Axles - Proportional # C51180 working, but not quite.
What you are going to want to add is the 7-Way RV Upgrade Kit for Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 12 Gauge Wires # ETBC7L. It will piggyback off your 4-Flat, but you do need to run a wire up to the battery for 12 volts of power. The brake controller needs to have that to work properly. Other than that, you just mount the 7-Way and you are good to go. I included a diagram for this as well as it will help visualize everything.
What are you planning on towing?

Hello Douglas. I purchased a GMC Acadia Denali with Hands Free Driving. The car came with factory trailer package including 7 pin harness. I have always installed the trailer brake modulator in previous trucks and cars. When I tried to install, I could not locate the proper harness to tie into. I contacted GMC, UHaul, and a local trailer sales company. No one could help me figure it out. I finally purchased the Curt Echo set up. For me, it works perfectly. Last summer I traveled from Tennessee to Ohio. The Echo worked just as advertised. Next month, Tennessee to Montana. The learning curve was short. I suggest that you watch a UTube video or two. I am confident that the Echo will work well for you.
