Can E57SR Leaf Spring Be Used On 2019 Grand Design Imagine 2400BH And Go From 4 Leaf To 3 Leaf?

Updated 05/08/2026 | Published 05/01/2026

Question:

I have a 2019 grand design imagine 2400bh. I am changing out leaf springs on it and was wondering if replacing them with E57sr would be a good choice if the stock springs are flattening? Would I have any issues going from a 4 leaf to 3 leaf springs? Would it be too stiff to upgrade to E57sr?

Hey Chance! Good question; we get this one a lot.

The number of leaves is not the best way to choose a replacement spring. A 3-leaf spring can replace a 4-leaf spring as long as the spring length, style, and weight rating are correct for your trailer. What matters most is the eye-to-eye length and the axle capacity.

The 3-Leaf Double-Eye Spring for 4,000-lb Trailer Axles - 25-1/4" Long # e57SR could work for your 2019 Grand Design Imagine 2400BH as long as your current springs measure close to 25-1/4" from center of eye to center of eye and your axles are rated for 4,000 lbs or less. Since your stock springs are worn and flattening, they may measure a little longer than they did originally, possibly closer to 26", so it is best to measure them with the trailer unloaded and the frame safely supported.

As far as stiffness goes, # e57SR would not be too stiff as long as it matches your axle rating. You do not want to go much higher than your axle capacity, because an overrated spring can make the trailer ride rougher and transfer more shock into the frame and suspension components. On the other hand, a spring that is underrated can flatten out again or cause suspension issues.

Chance, if you can send me the eye-to-eye measurement of your current spring and the axle capacity listed on your axle tag, I would be happy to help confirm whether # e57SR is the best fit for your Imagine.

Yes eye to eye is 25 1/4". My axle rating is 3500 lb. I also am installing Morryde Cre a3000 with new wet bolts and bushings when I do the springs along with Morryde x factor crossmembers on the middle and rear hangers. Do you think the 4000 lb springs will be ok with this setup?

@ChanceM Okay that would work fine, but since you do have a common axle capacity like 3,500lbs, I'd just stick to a 3,500lb rated setup like 4-Leaf Double-Eye Spring for 3,500-lb Trailer Axles - 25-1/4" Long # EM88UJ so that everything matches and is rated appropriately. Now if you installed the 4k leaf springs, you won't really have any issues, it's just that it would be rated a little more than the axles so you'll still be limited to the 3,500lb axle capacity of course. I doubt you'd notice a rougher ride since it's not like you're putting 6k springs on it haha. Let me know if you need anything else!

@ChanceMI put these uprated springs on my 7000lb toy hauler and it made a huge improvement in the towing. I'm right at the max rating when loaded and watered. The slightly stiffer springs made the trailer much more stable and the days of watching it dance like a stage coach behind me are over. I was contemplating shocks but these springs really made a difference.

I installed these on a 2018 GD Imagine 2800BH. They fit perfectly. I also wanted a slight increase in load rating.
