What do I need to upgrade my current A/C to a Furrion Chill Cube 18k BTU?

Question:

Im looking to swap one of my units out to a furrion 18btu chill cube. My camper is a 2020 model 3571 and it has the dometic ac unit that is ducted. The thermostat on the wall controls the ac unit and the furnace. What all material i need to do the conversion. Also does the furrion chill cube have a built in heat strip or heat pump. Am I able to use the furnace or the ac heater.

Great questions Wayne, I can walk you through what’s involved.

Furrion Chill Cube setup # FR59TQ will replace your current Dometic system because they won't directly plug and play.

Your existing setup uses one wall thermostat to control both the A/C and the furnace. With the Furrion system, you’ll be replacing the A/C, ceiling assembly, and thermostat. All the Furrion components all work together as their own system. They won’t tie into your existing Dometic controls.

The Chill Cube does have a built-in heat pump but it won’t replace your furnace. The Furrion thermostat won’t control your furnace, so your furnace would either stay on a separate control or require additional wiring changes.

For the install, you’ll reuse your existing roof opening and 120V power, but you will need to run the new thermostat/control wiring that comes with the Furrion system and make sure it’s properly tied into your ductwork.

One other thing to keep in mind, this is a single-zone system. If your camper currently has multiple A/C units tied to one thermostat, this setup would only control one zone unless you convert the others as well.

Are you typically running on shore power, generator, or both?
