Can the 5 GPM Seaflo Diaphragm Pump SE24FR Be Ran Continuously for 10 Minutes?

Updated 05/04/2026 | Published 04/30/2026

Question:

I plan on using this pump to transfer 45 gal of water from a pickup truck tank to my trailer, powered by the trailer battery bank. Because it is an on-demand pump only, is over heating a concern? Run time is approximately 10 minutes. Is that too long for this pump? The pump will not be mounted in a fixed position, but will be used in the open air of the pickup. Thank you for your help.

Hey Mark, welcome back! The Seaflo Diaphragm Pump item # SE24FR can indeed be ran for 10+ minutes without burning it out. It is designed for continuous use and has a 5-chamber design that minimizes heat buildup.

What kind of trailer do you have?

I purchased this pump for my RV. I can attest that it will run continuously without fail. We are full time RVers and I had to replace my pump several times because I purchased cheaper pumps. They all failed. This pump has stood the test and if anything it pumps too well at a higher pressure, using water faster then I want when boondocking off grid. The application you want to use it for would be perfect.
