Integrated Brake Controller Compatibility with Ausco Electric-Over-Hydraulic Actuator
Published 07/11/2014 >
Question:
I recently purchased a trailer that has Ausco electric over hydraulic brakes. I plan to tow it with a 2008 F450 that has an integrated brake controller. I see listing for adaptors/converters that allow the integrated controller to work with Titan BrakeRite actuators. Is there such a product that will work with the Ausco system?

I may have some information that will help, however I did some research on the Ausco electric-over-hydraulic actuators and found that these actuators were discontinued in 2002, so there is no technical information or manuals available for them. I even spoke with Ausco and they could not provide any assistance either. I can tell you that there are some integrated brake controllers that are not compatible with the electric-over-hydraulic brake systems that we carry, unfortunately the IBC in your 2008 Ford F450 is one of them. The compatibility issue is typically with GM and the 2007 to 2008 Ford brake controllers.
The recommendation I can make for you at this point is to replace your current brake controller with one that is compatible with electric over hydraulic actuators like the Prodigy P2 Brake Controller part # 90885. This is one of the best selling controllers available because of how easy it is to use and how well it works.
I attached an FAQ article on installing brake controller in Ford trucks like your with IBC's for you to check out also.
