How to Fix RV Slide Floor Separation Causing Binding Issues

Question:
I have a 2015 open range highland ridge 5th wheel. The large kitchen slide is giving me problems, the floor is separating delaminating I have replaced the plywood in the affected areas but I still have areas where the floor grabs and holds up the inbound journey. Do you have any suggestions as to how I can fix this problem ? Thank you

Hey Eric, thanks for reaching out. That’s a pretty common problem on those bigger kitchen slides, especially once the floor starts delaminating. Even after you replace sections of plywood, the bottom of the slide usually isn’t perfectly flat anymore. What ends up happening is you’ve got slight ridges, seams, or soft spots underneath, and when the slide comes in, it hits those rollers or the edge of the main floor and wants to grab.
I’d get under there and really look at the underside of the slide floor. You’re looking for anything that’s not smooth, high spots where your repair meets the original floor, or areas that still have a little flex. Knock those down, sand them smooth, and seal it up so it’s uniform. A lot of guys will add UHMW tape or some kind of slick glide surface in the problem areas, and that can make a big difference when it’s coming in under load.
After that, take a hard look at the rollers and alignment. If a roller is worn, sitting low, or slightly out of position, it’ll put extra pressure in one spot and make that grabbing worse. Same deal if the slide is a little out of square, it’ll come out fine but fight you going back in. Once the bottom is smooth and the rollers are supporting evenly across the slide, that hang-up on the way in usually goes away.

I doubled the amount of rollers on the bottom of the slide to help distribute the weight.

Hi, I bought the parts for my side during the winter and then had them installed at my local rv repair shop. In my case just before I bought my rv the slide was backed into when open. Since it's was off the tracks I let the professional fix it
