Will Heat Strip Help In Chilly Weather Camping Using Coleman Mach AC Units?

Question:

We do a lot of spring and fall camping, and I saw these Coleman ducted systems can use a heat strip. If I add the Coleman heat strip CM96RR, is that enough to replace the furnace for chilly mornings,?

Hey Cheryl, I’d think of the Coleman heat strip # CM96RR as a comfort add-on, not a true furnace replacement. It’s a great option if you want to take the chill out of the cool mornings, but I would not count on it to do the same job as your RV furnace in genuinely cold weather.

That applies across the ducted systems you’re looking at, including units like the Signature Mach 15 # CM52RR, Roughneck Mach 15 # CM65RR, Signature Mach 3 # CM83RR, and Roughneck Mach 3 # CM95RR. It’s a nice upgrade for shoulder-season camping because sometimes you just want a little heat without firing up the furnace right away. The strip is certainly more efficient, drawing much less power than a furnace/heater.

Do you camp in winter ever or just a little bit of chilly weather in fall/spring? If the latter, then the strip will help!
