Parts Needed to Flat Tow a 2014 Hyundai Accent

I did some checking and it looks like the 2014 Hyundai Accent is only flat towable if it is the manual transmission model. The 2014 Honda Fit can be flat towed with either transmission style but it is not recommended to exceed 65 miles per hour.

I would recommend consulting the owners manual of either vehicle or contacting a dealership to be sure.

We only carry base plate kits for the Hyundai Accent though. So that might be the deciding factor. If you were to get a manual transmission Accent I would recommend the Roadmaster Base Plate Kit part # 521634-1.

In addition to the base plates, you will also need a compatible tow bar, safety cables, lighting, and supplemental braking to flat tow your vehicle. The most popular compatible tow bar is the Falcon 2, # RM-520. For safety cables you can use # RM-643. The coiled design helps keep the cables off of the ground.

For lighting you can use the bulb and socket kit, # RM-155, and not have to worry about cutting and splicing into the vehicle wiring.

And finally, most states now require supplemental braking in the vehicle being flat towed. The easiest system to set up and use is the Even Brake proportional system, # RM-9400, that applies the vehicle brakes in proportion to how much the two vehicle is braking. This is the safest way to stop and it reduces wear and tear on both vehicles.
