Question:

I’m looking to replace the axles on my boat trailer. I measured 89” hub face to hub face and 70” spring center. Is there really only one option on your website for axle replacement? I need one idler and one hydraulic.

Hello Chris, yes as of now the only exact fit is the Dexter Boat Trailer Axle # DX47HR. That is a pretty specific hub face and spring center size that is not very common, unfortunately.

The more common setup has 74" spring center measurement like with the Trailer Axle with Idler Hubs - 5 on 4-1/2 Bolt Pattern - 89" Long - 3,500 lbs # e65GR. If you bought this idler hub, you could have a trailer shop or good welder replace the spring brackets and move them to the 70" measurement to match your current setup. This also comes in variations with electric brakes like # e43SR or with no hubs at all and just spindles like # e38GR.

These are all 3,500lb axles with the 89" hub face to hub face and 74" spring center to spring center which would need to be relocated to 70" as I mentioned earlier.

Another option is to upgrade your axle and suspension all together to an axle-less setup like # ASR3500S04 with 4" drop or # ASR3500S05 for no drop.

What kind of trailer do you have?

It is a loader trailer. Unsure of exact model but holds a 2000 sea ray sundeck 210. I would need hydraulic brakes

@ChrisK Ok you would need to get an axle with just spindles on it then add hydraulic brakes to it. You would need to verify that you have a 3,500lb capacity axle like the ones I mentioned above. If so, you'll want something like # e38GR which doesn't have hubs or anything but it has a 4 bolt flange for brakes (and you'll need to move the spring brackets), then you can add hydraulic brakes like # AKFBBRK-35-D, then whichever hubs match your current wheel lug pattern, such as # AKHD-545-35-G-K which is the common 5 on 4-1/2"
